Islamabad, June 14, 2025: In a strong display of diplomatic solidarity, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday evening, condemning Israel’s recent military strikes against Iran and reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for its neighbor during this time of heightened regional tensions.

Prime Minister Sharif denounced the Israeli attacks as “unprovoked and unjustified aggression,” labeling them a clear violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stated that the strikes contravened the United Nations Charter and international law, emphasizing Iran’s inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the Iranian leadership and people. He also referenced Pakistan’s firm support for Iran during the emergency session of the United Nations Security Council held a day earlier.

Calling Israel’s actions “provocative adventurism,” Sharif warned that such military aggression posed a grave threat to regional and global peace. He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue, condemning Israel’s continued “genocidal campaign” against the Palestinian people and urging the international community and the UN to take urgent and credible action to halt Israel’s unlawful conduct.

“Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and stability in the region and is ready to play a constructive role in this regard,” the Prime Minister stated.

President Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Sharif for Pakistan’s steadfast support and solidarity, particularly at the UN Security Council, describing it as a reflection of the deep and brotherly ties between the two countries. He shared Iran’s perspective on the ongoing crisis and emphasized the need for a coordinated response from the international community — especially the Islamic world — to address emerging security challenges.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact as the situation continues to evolve.
