New York, June 15, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir received a warm welcome in the United States with a high-profile appreciation campaign displayed on the iconic Times Square billboard in New York City.

The digital billboard features images of Field Marshal Munir—who was recently elevated to the rank of Field Marshal—alongside the Pakistani flag, scenes of his engagements with US senators, and moments with Pakistani children, symbolizing a message of peace, progress, and partnership. The campaign, showcasing Pakistan as a forward-looking nation focused on education, technology, and regional stability, will run for a full week.

The visit comes at the invitation of the US military leadership, with Field Marshal Munir set to hold high-level meetings in Washington. The Times Square tribute is part of a broader effort by the local Pakistani-American community and officials to acknowledge Munir’s growing international stature, particularly his leadership during the recent conflict with India, which has drawn praise from global partners.

In the lead-up to the visit, US CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla commended Field Marshal Munir’s role in counterterrorism efforts. Speaking before the House Armed Services Committee, General Kurilla described Pakistan as a “phenomenal partner in the counterterrorism world,” specifically citing Islamabad’s operations against Daesh-Khorasan (ISIS-K).

“Through a phenomenal partnership with Pakistan, they have gone after Daesh-Khorasan, killing dozens. With our intelligence support, they have captured at least five high-value individuals,” General Kurilla said.

He highlighted the capture of Mohammad Sharifullah alias Jafar, a suspect involved in the 2021 Kabul airport bombing that claimed the lives of 13 US service members and over 160 civilians. Kurilla revealed that Field Marshal Munir personally informed him of the arrest and expressed willingness to extradite the suspect to the United States. “The first person Munir called was me. He said, ‘I’ve caught him. I’m willing to extradite him. Please inform the Secretary of Defense and the President,’” Kurilla shared.

Field Marshal Munir’s visit is expected to include engagements with Pentagon officials, members of Congress, and think tanks, focusing on regional security, counterterrorism collaboration, and strategic military cooperation between the US and Pakistan.
