Manama, June 21, 2025: Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals of the AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup with a commanding 3-1 victory over Indonesia in the quarter-finals, continuing their unbeaten run in the tournament.
Playing at the Isa bin Rashid Hall in Manama, the green shirts recovered from a shaky start after dropping the opening set 25-20. Indonesia’s strong early showing pushed Pakistan onto the backfoot, but the momentum shifted quickly.
Pakistan bounced back with renewed determination, edging out the second set 25-21 in a tightly contested battle. With the scores level, the national side found their rhythm and dominated the remainder of the match, clinching the third set 25-20 and sealing the win with a convincing 25-17 scoreline in the fourth.
With this result, Pakistan secured their place in the final four, maintaining a perfect record in the competition. Their semi-final opponent will be decided upon the conclusion of the remaining quarter-final fixtures.
Pakistan entered the knockout stage on top of Group C, having opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over the Philippines. After comfortably winning the first two sets in that encounter, Pakistan faced resistance in the third before regrouping in the fourth to close out the match.
Their place in the quarter-finals was confirmed ahead of the final group match after Chinese Taipei defeated the Philippines, ensuring both teams advanced.
Pakistan and Chinese Taipei then faced off in a thrilling group decider. The green shirts appeared in control early on, winning the first two sets. However, Chinese Taipei mounted a strong comeback to take the next two sets, forcing a dramatic fifth and final set.
In a nail-biting finish, Pakistan rallied from an 8-5 deficit and eventually converted their third match point to win 18-16, sealing top spot in the group.
Now just one win away from the final, Pakistan will look to carry their momentum into the semi-finals and continue their dream run at the AVC Nations Cup.
