Dera Ghazi Khan, July 5, 2025: In a major counter-terrorism success, Punjab Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday killed five militants belonging to the outlawed group Fitna al-Hindustan in a joint operation near Taunsa, within the jurisdiction of the Wahuwa Police Station.

According to officials, eight other militants were seriously injured during the operation, which was launched based on intelligence reports of the group’s presence in the area. A search and clearance operation was ongoing at the time of reporting.

Soon after the encounter, District Police Officer (DPO) D.G. Khan, Syed Ali, visited the site to oversee follow-up actions. Inspector General of Punjab Police congratulated the joint team on the successful operation, stating that the swift and coordinated action had thwarted a potential terrorist plot.

“The timely operation by our brave officers has foiled the nefarious designs of the Fitna al-Hindustan group,” the IGP said.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also lauded the Punjab Police and CTD for their bravery and professionalism. In a statement issued following the operation, Naqvi said:

“Punjab Police and CTD have once again sent five terrorists to hell. Their action prevented a possible disaster. The nation is proud of our law enforcement agencies.”

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and praised the continued efforts of security forces in protecting the country from extremist threats.

Fitna al-Hindustan, a banned outfit with links to cross-border militancy, has been blamed for multiple attempts to destabilize the region in recent years. Security agencies believe that the group was planning a coordinated attack before being intercepted in Taunsa.

The latest operation is part of an intensified counter-terror crackdown across Punjab, particularly in the southern belt, following intelligence warnings of possible militant activity.
