Islamabad, July 8, 2025: According to an official notification issued by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Additional Director Dr. Muhammad Fakhruddin Amir has been removed from his post and demoted as part of disciplinary action following an inquiry.

Reliable sources of Sub News confirm that Dr. Fakhruddin Amir, Ayesha Khalil, and a former DRAP CEO were the subject of an investigation conducted by a high-level committee that included the Secretary Cabinet Division and the Secretary Commerce.

The inquiry committee held Dr. Amir and Ayesha Khalil responsible for delays in the registration of medical devices. Their findings were submitted to the Prime Minister, who subsequently ordered strict action. Acting on these directives, the Ministry of National Health Services instructed DRAP to impose major penalties on the officials found responsible.

However, despite these clear instructions, DRAP has only issued a one-year demotion to Dr. Fakhruddin Amir — downgrading his position from Additional Director (RO-14) to Deputy Director (RO-13). The formal notification of this disciplinary action was signed and released by DRAP official Rab Nawaz Khan.

This development raises questions about the effectiveness of internal accountability within DRAP and the degree to which ministerial directives are enforced.
