Rawalpindi, July 15, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral defence ties, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The visiting Indonesian minister, who is leading a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from military and intelligence agencies, held wide-ranging talks with Pakistan’s top military leadership. Discussions focused on regional security dynamics, expanding defence cooperation, and exploring new avenues for military collaboration.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia, and both sides expressed a strong desire to enhance defence and security ties. The conversation particularly emphasized mutual cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Munir underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in confronting shared security challenges and maintaining regional equilibrium. The Indonesian Defence Minister lauded the professionalism and achievements of the Pakistan Army, especially its significant role in the fight against terrorism.
The visit reflects both countries’ commitment to deepening military and strategic engagement, building upon their historical defence ties and shared interests.
