Islamabad, Oct 7, 2024 – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese Embassy on Monday to meet with Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and express his heartfelt condolences for the loss of Chinese citizens in a terrorist attack in Karachi.
The Prime Minister conveyed his profound sorrow and anger regarding the tragic loss of life. “The government is fully mobilized to swiftly identify those responsible for this incident,” he stated, assuring that once the perpetrators are identified, they will be brought to justice without delay.
He emphasized, “The protection of the lives and property of our Chinese brothers in Pakistan is our top priority.” The Prime Minister further underscored that the government would not tolerate any heinous conspiracy aimed at undermining Pakistan-China relations. He committed to personally overseeing the investigation and assured that security measures for foreign nationals would be further enhanced.
Ambassador Jiang expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the prompt response and the initiation of investigations following the attack. He expressed confidence in the Government of Pakistan’s ability to conduct effective investigations, swiftly identify the terrorists, and ensure their prompt punishment.
Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and senior officials from relevant departments were also present at the meeting.
