Islamabad, July 30, 2025: The Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan, Hajo Provó Kluit, called on Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, at CDA Headquarters on Wednesday.

Chairman Randhawa extended a warm welcome to the visiting diplomat. The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, including urban development, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental conservation, with both sides expressing a desire to strengthen cooperation.

Mr. Hajo Provó Kluit lauded CDA’s ongoing efforts, particularly its round-the-clock response to the recent monsoon emergency that saw unprecedented rainfall in the capital. He praised the successful drainage of floodwaters and appreciated CDA’s initiative to uplift the Diplomatic Enclave, along with various beautification projects such as the transformation of the CDA Nursery into a “Gardenia Hub” and the digitalization of civic services under the Smart City vision.

The CDA Chairman briefed the Dutch diplomat on projects aligned with the directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, aimed at transforming the Diplomatic Enclave into a model zone meeting international standards. He highlighted infrastructure improvements, landscaping, horticulture upgrades, and long-term sustainable development plans.

Chairman Randhawa also expressed interest in future partnerships in areas such as eco-friendly urban planning, water conservation, and waste management. He emphasized CDA’s commitment to climate-resilient horticultural practices and the ongoing indigenous plantation drive in Islamabad.

The Deputy Head of Mission underscored the Netherlands’ expertise in tulip cultivation, Dutch roses, and sustainable horticulture technologies. Both parties discussed the possibility of technical cooperation in horticulture, including soil advisory and sustainable landscaping.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation in urban development, green technologies, and beautification projects. Mr. Hajo Provó Kluit assured the Netherlands’ full support and reiterated his country’s keen interest in working closely with CDA to promote Islamabad as a model green and smart capital city.
