Islamabad, July 30, 2025: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday, August 2, for a two-day official visit, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday, citing a statement by his political adviser.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mehdi Sanai, Political Adviser to the Iranian President, confirmed the visit, stating:
“Dr. Pezeshkian will travel to Pakistan on Saturday evening, August 2, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.”
According to Sanai, the Iranian president’s itinerary includes official meetings, as well as engagements with cultural and business elites in Pakistan. He emphasized the multifaceted nature of bilateral relations, spanning political, economic, religious, and cultural dimensions.
The visit will focus on enhancing provincial and border cooperation, and on efforts to increase bilateral trade, which currently stands at approximately $3 billion, the adviser added.
This will be the second visit by an Iranian president to Pakistan in two years. The trip was originally scheduled for the last week of July but was rescheduled for early August.
In April 2024, the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi undertook a three-day visit to Pakistan — just weeks before his tragic death in a helicopter crash. His trip was marked by high-level talks on trade, regional connectivity, and mutual cooperation.
Earlier this year in May, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Iran as part of a regional outreach initiative to express gratitude to friendly nations for their support during Pakistan’s conflict with India. During his two-day visit, he held meetings with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and then-President Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing on bilateral relations, trade promotion, strategic cooperation, and regional peace, including solidarity over the situation in Gaza.
Prime Minister Sharif had also traveled to Iran in May 2024 to attend a memorial service for the late President Raisi.
Dr. Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit is expected to deepen Pakistan-Iran cooperation and bolster efforts toward regional stability, economic integration, and people-to-people ties, especially across the shared border regions.
