Islamabad, July 31, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country, calling it a national priority that has earned global recognition for its success.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Steering Committee on Counter-Terrorism and Establishment of the State Writ (Harden the State), the premier stated, “The state of Pakistan is determined to root out the scourge of terrorism, and the world recognises our successful operations against terrorists.”

He highlighted that Pakistan has adopted a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach in its counter-terrorism campaign. “From ground operations to legislative measures, public engagement, and counter-extremism strategies—every tool has been effectively employed,” he said.

The committee underscored the need for robust coordination between the federal and provincial governments, with a focus on strict implementation of the counter-terrorism strategy.

Praising the armed forces, PM Shehbaz said, “The role of our brave sons in uniform is commendable. The entire nation, including myself, salutes the officers and personnel who laid down their lives for Pakistan.”

He noted that Pakistan’s military had played a critical role in decisive operations such as Zarb-e-Azb, Radd-ul-Fasaad, and the recent Marka-e-Haq, which he said was acknowledged globally.

The prime minister also appreciated the efforts of provincial governments, the Intelligence Bureau, the Ministry of Interior, and particularly the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department, for their decisive steps in countering terrorism.

He further stated that Pakistan is executing a comprehensive and actionable strategy to eliminate extremist elements, including those he termed as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.

Addressing the broader security and economic landscape, PM Shehbaz said, “Coordinated operations against smuggling have yielded positive outcomes, with notable impacts on the economy.” He added that structural reforms—such as system digitisation and tax improvements—have restored international investor confidence.

“Record gains in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and improved global credit ratings reflect economic stability and growing trust from international investors,” he observed.

On the issue of undocumented Afghan nationals, the prime minister noted that the government’s repatriation programme is being implemented in line with international laws and is proceeding effectively.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, National Security Adviser Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, and several federal ministers, chief secretaries, inspectors general, and senior officials.
