Islamabad, August 19, 2025: Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan Air Force’s resolve to assist Azerbaijan in upgrading its air force during a high-level meeting with an Azerbaijani defence delegation at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

According to ISPR, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and defence cooperation, with a particular focus on training, technical expertise, and expanding collaboration. The Air Chief said Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoyed deep-rooted ties, based on shared history, culture, and religion.

Air Chief Marshal Sidhu briefed the delegation on PAF’s operational readiness and ongoing projects, assuring full support in enhancing Azerbaijan’s air power capabilities.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Defence Minister, Agil Gurbanov, lauded the professionalism of PAF personnel and acknowledged its remarkable strides in indigenization and modern aerospace technologies. He expressed Azerbaijan’s keen interest in further strengthening bilateral ties through joint training programs, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and cooperation in multi-domain operations.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s intent to revamp its training system from the academy level, Gurbanov noted that PAF’s experience in multi-domain warfare would serve as a valuable model. He expressed confidence that cooperation with PAF would significantly contribute to the modernization and professional growth of Azerbaijan’s air force.

The visit, ISPR said, reflects the mutual commitment of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to deepen their strategic partnership and reinforce shared aspirations for regional peace, security, and stability.
