Islamabad, August 25, 2025: The federal government has approved Pakistan’s hockey team to take part in the upcoming Pro Hockey League, with the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination pledging full support.

According to details, the Rs 350 million budget required for participation will be met through Rs 250 million from the Ministry of Finance and Rs 100 million from sponsors, confirmed Secretary Mohiuddin Wani during the committee meeting.

Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary Rana Mujahid welcomed the decision, stressing that the event — featuring the world’s top ten teams — is vital for restoring Pakistan’s hockey stature.

Team captain Imad Butt also expressed delight, saying the league will help improve Pakistan’s international ranking. However, he pointed out that players’ daily allowances remain unresolved and urged the federation to seek additional financial avenues beyond government support.

Officials noted that with funding secured, the national squad can now concentrate on preparations. Participation in the Pro Hockey League is seen as a major opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s talent on the global stage.
