Kurram Agency, October 12: At least 11 people were killed and eight others injured in multiple shooting incidents in the Kunj Alizai area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, according to hospital and local officials.

Kurram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javidullah Mehsud confirmed the death toll, stating, “There was shooting in the Kunj Alizai mountains near the Pak-Afghan border and on the roads nearby.”

Mir Hassan, the medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, reported that nine injured individuals were brought to the hospital. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of three others remains critical.

DC Mehsud further assured that measures are being taken to secure entry and exit routes and restore law and order in the area.

This incident follows a series of violent clashes in the region. Last month, at least 46 people were killed and 91 injured in prolonged violence stemming from a land dispute. Similar clashes in July resulted in 49 deaths. In response, the district administration engaged a local jirga in September to mediate negotiations between two rival tribes. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also established a land commission to resolve ongoing disputes.
