Islamabad, September 10, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to intensify relief operations in Karachi and other flood-affected areas of Sindh, ensuring full cooperation with the Sindh government and the Sindh Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif appreciated the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Rescue 1122 for their active role in rescue operations across Karachi. He also expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of citizens swept away in Gadap stream and instructed authorities to expedite efforts to locate missing persons.

“The awareness campaign should be further strengthened to inform the public about the flood situation and protect as many citizens as possible,” the prime minister said.

He also ordered immediate restoration of damaged communication infrastructure in affected areas, stressing that both the federal and Sindh governments are fully mobilised to handle the crisis. Relief and rehabilitation of flood-hit families in Karachi, he added, must remain the top priority.
