Dubai, October 15, 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its latest player rankings, with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan reclaiming the No.1 position among ODI bowlers, while Pakistan failed to feature in the top ten for the first time in over a year.

The update marks a major milestone for Afghanistan cricket, as Rashid’s rise highlights his continued dominance and consistency in limited-overs formats. Known for his deceptive variations and accuracy, the leg-spinner has been instrumental in Afghanistan’s recent ODI successes.

In contrast, no Pakistani bowler managed to break into the top ten — Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped to 15th, while Haris Rauf slipped one place to 29th, underlining Pakistan’s recent struggles in the 50-over format.

India’s young batting sensation Shubman Gill now sits atop the ICC ODI batting rankings, surpassing key rivals to claim the No.1 spot.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who had long held the top position, fell one place to fourth, marking a rare dip in his otherwise consistent run across formats.

Among other Pakistani players, Mohammad Rizwan retained his 25th position, while Fakhar Zaman followed closely at 27th, maintaining Pakistan’s presence in the top 30.

In another major achievement for Afghanistan, Azmatullah Umarzai climbed to No.1 in the ODI all-rounders rankings, following a series of strong performances with both bat and ball. His rise further solidifies Afghanistan’s position as a growing force in one-day international cricket.

In the ICC Test rankings, England’s Joe Root continues to dominate as the world’s top-ranked batsman, with teammate Harry Brook also featuring among the leaders.
Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel made steady progress, moving up to 12th, while Mohammad Rizwan holds the 20th position.

Among bowlers, India’s Jasprit Bumrah retains the top spot, but Pakistan’s Nauman Ali has made significant strides, breaking into the top six after his recent match-winning performance against South Africa in Lahore.

The latest ICC rankings underscore Afghanistan’s growing influence in world cricket, as their players now occupy leading positions in both the bowling and all-rounder categories — a testament to their rapid progress on the international stage.
