Hong Kong, November 7, 2025: India defeated Pakistan by two runs (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed encounter of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Friday.

Chasing a target of 87 runs in six overs, Pakistan were 41-1 after three overs when rain interrupted play. Under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, India were declared winners, having scored more runs at the same stage of their innings.

Pakistan made a brisk start as Khawaja Nafay struck Abhimanyu Mithun for an early boundary before hammering two consecutive sixes, taking 18 runs off the opening over.

Maaz Sadaqat joined the assault in the second over, hitting Stuart Binny for six, but was dismissed soon after for 7 off 3 balls. By the end of the second over, Pakistan had reached 25-1.

In the third over, Shahbaz Nadeem conceded 16 runs, including a four and a six from Nafay, keeping Pakistan on track until rain brought proceedings to a halt.

Earlier, India posted 86-4 — a modest total on a ground known for high scores. Openers Robin Uthappa and Bharat Chipli added 34 runs in the first two overs before Mohammad Shahzad dismissed Uthappa for 28 off 12 (3 sixes, 2 fours).

Shahzad also removed Stuart Binny, reducing India to 46-2. Skipper Dinesh Karthik added late momentum, hitting a six in the final over to take India to 86. Shahzad and Maaz Sadaqat were the pick of Pakistan’s bowlers, keeping India in check after a flying start.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan edged Kuwait in a last-ball thriller, thanks to skipper Abbas Afridi’s explosive 55 off just 12 balls*, which included six sixes in an over.

Needing 67 off the last 12 deliveries, Afridi’s fireworks turned the game around, while Shahid Aziz provided vital support with 23 off 5 balls*.

Pakistan successfully chased Kuwait’s 123-run target off the final delivery to clinch a dramatic victory.
