Rawalpindi, December 15, 2025: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has confirmed that the viral image of her brother exercising, which recently circulated on social media, is authentic.
Speaking to media after her appearance at an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said, “This picture of Imran Khan is real. When I first saw it, I even sent it to someone to check if it might be AI, because he looks exactly like him. I am certain it is Imran Khan himself. The picture seems to be from the summer. This is how he is in jail.”
She revealed that Imran Khan is being held in solitary confinement, and that the viral image, while appearing old, is genuine. Aleema Khan emphasised that the media should verify the authenticity of such images.
“Even when confined, he manages to exercise inside his cell,” she added, highlighting that the PTI founder has never given up two things: faith in Allah and exercise. She stressed that meeting Imran Khan at Adiala jail is a constitutional, legal, and moral right.
Aleema Khan also criticised the judiciary, stating that any judge unable to dispense justice in accordance with the Constitution should vacate office. She said that anyone seeking the release of Imran Khan is part of their team and rejected claims of divisions within PTI, calling the so-called “Aleema Khan Group” and “Bushra Bibi Group” propaganda spread by agencies.
Responding to allegations of her links with intelligence agencies, she said, “Which agency? MI or ISI? These are all our own agencies,” and asserted her willingness to face any pressure. She added, “They do not allow us to meet him, they throw water at us. They can do whatever they want, but we will not step back from our objective.”
Addressing false testimonies against her, Aleema Khan said, “Those testifying against me were merely constables and were giving false testimony on the Holy Quran. They will be punished. They are sacrificial goats; the real culprits are those who force them to testify.”
She further defended Imran Khan, stating that he founded PTI for justice, the Constitution, and the rule of law, and has been imprisoned for two-and-a-half years for upholding these principles. Aleema Khan condemned solitary confinement exceeding five days, calling it torture under international law, and confirmed plans to seek another jail meeting on Tuesday.
She reiterated that Imran Khan would not compromise on three issues: the supremacy of the Constitution, the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, and transparent elections, while lamenting the erosion of ethics in the courts.
