Islamabad, December 20,2025: The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad received a cheque worth PKR 500,000 from GAK HealthCare International, Pakistan, in support of ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah. The donation underscores the commitment of Pakistani institutions to assist Sri Lanka in its time of need.

GAK HealthCare International, a prominent Pakistani healthcare group with over 25 years of experience in medical education, patient care, and medical tourism, operates institutions such as Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH). The group focuses on integrated healthcare, innovation, and regional expansion across Asia, offering programs in MBBS, BDS, nursing, and allied health sciences.

Major General (Rtd) Professor Muhammad Aslam, Vice Chancellor of City University, Islamabad, and Dr. Usman Waheed, an executive member of GAK HealthCare International, visited the Official Residence of the High Commissioner on December 19 and formally handed over the cheque to Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner thanked CEO Yasir Khan Niazi, Major General (Rtd) Professor Aslam, Dr. Usman Waheed, and the students of City University for their generous contribution, which will aid Sri Lanka’s ongoing disaster-relief initiatives.

The donation highlights the strong ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the spirit of solidarity in times of natural calamities.
