Islamabad, December 27, 2025: The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis on Saturday announced that Italy has allocated a three-year employment quota of 10,500 jobs for Pakistani workers, marking the first time a European country has officially offered job opportunities to Pakistan under a structured quota system.
According to a spokesperson for the ministry, the quota will allow 3,500 Pakistani workers to travel to Italy each year for employment. Of the annual allocation, 1,500 workers will be hired under the seasonal category, while 2,000 will be employed under the non-seasonal quota.
The employment opportunities span multiple sectors, including shipbreaking, healthcare and agriculture. Skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers will be employed in professions such as welding, technical services, cooking, waiting staff and housekeeping. Additional opportunities are also available in nursing, medical technology and farming, the ministry said.
The spokesperson added that the second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group is scheduled to be held in Islamabad in February 2026 to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in labour mobility.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain termed the allocation of the job quota an important milestone for Pakistan. He said the development would open new avenues of employment for Pakistani workers in Italy and expressed confidence that other European countries would soon follow.
“This marks a significant step forward for Pakistan in exploring new employment opportunities in the European labour market,” Hussain said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring respectable overseas employment for Pakistani workers.
He added that overseas Pakistanis act as ambassadors of the country abroad and play a vital role in strengthening the national economy.
