Peshawar, January 7, 2026: In a major anti-smuggling operation, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar, on Wednesday intercepted and seized a ten-wheeler truck carrying a large consignment of smuggled goods, with the total market value of the recovered contraband, including the vehicle, estimated at Rs79.5 million.

The seized truck, bearing registration number TKA-785, was found to be transporting 222 cartons (11,100 sleeves) of foreign-origin cigarettes, 240 cartons (60,000 boxes) of Pan Paras hookah flavour, 1,800 kilograms of poppy seeds, and 1,150 packs of gutka. Both the contraband items and the carrier vehicle were impounded under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act.

According to officials, the interception was carried out as part of ongoing intelligence-based enforcement operations aimed at curbing smuggling and protecting legitimate trade as well as national revenue. Legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its firm commitment to strengthening enforcement mechanisms and taking decisive action against smuggling, illicit trade, and corrupt practices to ensure fair trade and economic stability.
