Eight Muslim nations condemn Israeli measures in occupied West Bank

Islamabad, February 9, 2026: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have strongly condemned what they described as illegal Israeli decisions and actions aimed at imposing sovereignty, expanding settlements, and enforcing a new legal and administrative reality in the occupied West Bank.

In a joint statement, the ministers said such measures accelerate attempts at the illegal annexation of the territory and the displacement of the Palestinian people, reaffirming that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory.

They warned that the continued expansionist policies and unlawful actions by the Israeli government in the West Bank risk fueling further violence and instability across the region.

The ministers expressed their “absolute rejection” of the measures, calling them a blatant violation of international law that undermines the two-state solution and infringes upon the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital. They added that such actions also weaken ongoing efforts toward regional peace and stability.

The statement emphasized that these measures are “null and void” and violate United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which condemns attempts to alter the demographic composition, character, and status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. It also referenced the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which found Israel’s policies and continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory to be illegal and called for an end to the occupation and annexation of Palestinian land.

The ministers urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to halt its escalation in the occupied West Bank and cease inflammatory rhetoric by its officials.

They stressed that realizing the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights to self-determination and statehood—based on the two-state solution, international resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative—remains the only viable path toward a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
