Islamabad, February 15, 2026: In a refreshing shift from lecture halls to the scenic Margalla Hills, Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) joined hands with Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital—both flagship institutions of GAK HealthCare International—to organize a high-energy “Hike Against Obesity” at Margalla Hiking Trail 3, turning a routine morning into a powerful statement for wellness and active living.

The event commenced with a vibrant ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a friendly hiking competition, setting an energetic and symbolic tone for the initiative. The activity was meticulously organized by the IMDC Hike & Adventure Club under the leadership of Ahmad Raza, whose team ensured that the hike remained eco-friendly and set a benchmark for responsible outdoor engagement.

More than 700 participants—including students of medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, medical laboratory technology and nursing—along with faculty members, practicing physicians, surgeons and healthcare management professionals, took part in the hike with enthusiasm. Senior leadership remained present throughout the event, motivating participants and appreciating their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the hills by keeping the trail litter-free.

Addressing the gathering, Yasir Khan Niazi, Group CEO of GAK HealthCare International, said the initiative was far more than a recreational outing. He noted that such activities are central to the institution’s vision of producing not only academically competent graduates but well-rounded professionals rooted in lifelong learning, ethical values, community engagement and healthy lifestyles.

Speaking to the media, Imran Ali Ghouri, Head of Communications at GAK HealthCare, remarked that in a city often defined by policy debates and traffic congestion, the Margalla Hills briefly resonated with laughter, footsteps and a clear message—that the next generation of healthcare leaders is learning to promote wellness by practicing it themselves.

The day concluded on a festive note with music, interactive activities and a lively prize distribution ceremony at the finish point. Students, parents, faculty members and other participants praised the organizers for creating an experience that demonstrated health promotion can be both impactful and enjoyable.
