Islamabad, February 15, 2026: A Cycling Championship was successfully organized on Sunday by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to promote green mobility and a healthy lifestyle in the federal capital.

Organised in collaboration with Allied Bank Limited (ABL), the CDA Cycling Championship was held at D-Chowk and the adjoining areas of Jinnah Avenue, drawing a large number of citizens and cycling enthusiasts from across the city.

Approximately 300 cyclists participated in the championship, reflecting growing public interest in healthy, eco-friendly recreational activities. Competitions were held in multiple categories, including Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Under-16, and Under-9, ensuring inclusive participation across age groups and genders under a defined Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Member Finance CDA Tahir Naeem, the District Magistrate Islamabad, Director Sports, DSP Traffic Police, and the President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the event as special guests. Members of the national women’s cricket team, along with senior officials and other dignitaries, were also present and actively participated in the cycling activity.

Participants and citizens praised the initiative, urging the CDA and MCI to organize such healthy and community-oriented activities on a regular basis.

Chief Officer MCI Dr. Anam Fatima said the championship reflects the commitment of CDA and MCI to raising awareness about green mobility in urban areas. She added that both civic bodies will continue to organize similar events to promote public participation and a healthy lifestyle, emphasizing that providing quality recreational opportunities to residents of the federal capital remains a top priority.
