Islamabad, February 18, 2026: The 11th meeting of the Standing Committee on Water Resources was held on Wednesday at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Ahmad Atteeq Anwer, MNA.
The Chairman welcomed the participants and the Committee proceeded with the agenda. After detailed deliberations, the Committee approved the ongoing projects of the Ministry of Water Resources.
In its observations, the Committee emphasized that issues related to the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) in Sindh must be addressed on a priority basis. It stressed the need for close coordination between federal and provincial representatives to resolve the matter amicably and without delay.
The Committee further recommended that comprehensive information regarding employees recruited under the Kachhi Canal Project be provided at the earliest. This includes complete personal details and domicile status, which the Committee said is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in recruitment practices.
In addition, the Committee called for a detailed briefing on the Pat Feeder Canal Project, describing it as a major federal initiative for the province of Balochistan. Members underscored the project’s importance in addressing regional water resource challenges and sought a comprehensive update on its progress, scope, and implementation strategy.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mian Khan Bugti, Shamaila Rana, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani (via Zoom), Zulfiqar Ali Behan, and Shazia Marri.
Federal Minister for Water Resources Mian Muhammad Mueen Watto, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Water Resources, also attended the meeting.
