Multan, February 21, 2026: The 48th death anniversary of veteran Pakistan Movement leader and former federal minister Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani was observed with reverence at Darbar Musa Pak Shaheed in Multan, where a Mehfil-e-Hamd-o-Naat was organized to pay tribute to his services.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, son of the late leader, attended the ceremony and thanked the scholars, elders, and guests for participating in the commemorative gathering. He highlighted his father’s invaluable contributions to the Pakistan Movement and the nation-building process.

He said Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani served as a Member of Pakistan’s Constituent Assembly and, after independence, held the portfolios of Minister for Health and Local Government. He was also among the signatories of the 1956 Constitution of Pakistan, playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s constitutional framework.

Recalling a historic moment, the Chairman Senate shared that his father once walked barefoot to Mazar-e-Quaid to inform Muhammad Ali Jinnah that the Constitution had been finalized — a gesture symbolizing his deep respect and commitment to the ideals of the nation’s founding leadership.

Tributes were paid to the late leader for his lifelong public service and steadfast dedication to the Pakistan Movement. Religious scholar Allama Farooq Khan Saeedi spoke about his struggle and contributions, while the Sajjadah Nasheen of Darbar Musa Pak Shaheed, Makhdoom Syed Abul Hassan Gilani, offered a special collective prayer.

Among those in attendance were MNAs Syed Ali Musa Gilani and Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, MPA Syed Ali Haider Gilani, Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, former MPA Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Malik Manzoor Domra, and a large number of dignitaries and party workers.
