Doha, February 24, 2026: Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, on Tuesday called on Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif during the Pakistani premier’s official visit to Doha, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Dr. Al-Sayed, who also serves as Chairman of the Pak–Qatar Joint Business Taskforce, held detailed discussions with the Prime Minister on enhancing economic engagement. The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan–Qatar relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need to increase bilateral trade volumes and diversify Pakistan’s exports to Qatar, with a focus on agricultural produce, food items, and value-added goods. He also highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing investment-friendly reforms and emphasized the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in promoting and facilitating foreign investment.

The meeting also reviewed follow-up measures related to the sixth session of the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to implementing the agreed decisions.

Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed reiterated Qatar’s keen interest in expanding economic cooperation, strengthening private-sector collaboration, and enhancing business-to-business linkages between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to convene a joint task force meeting within the month of Ramadan, bringing together relevant officials from Pakistan and Qatar to deliberate on concrete proposals for Qatari investment in Pakistan.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present at the meeting.
