Ahmedabad, February 26, 2026: South Africa men’s cricket team secured their second consecutive victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights, dominating West Indies cricket team by nine wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 177, the Proteas lost just one wicket in 16.1 overs, thanks to an explosive opening stand by Quinton de Kock and skipper Aiden Markram. De Kock fell for 47 off 24 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes, while Markram carried on to score an unbeaten 82 off 46 deliveries, including seven fours and four sixes. Ryan Rickelton added a quick 45 off 28 balls, putting South Africa well on course for a commanding win.

Earlier, West Indies posted 176-8 in their 20 overs. Openers Brandon King and Shai Hope began aggressively, but wickets fell quickly. Kagiso Rabada dismissed Hope for 16 and Shimron Hetmyer for 2, while Lungi Ngidi claimed King and Roston Chase to keep West Indies under pressure.

Lower-order efforts from Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd revived the innings with an 89-run partnership, taking the team past 100. Holder was run out for 49, while Shepherd finished unbeaten on 52, reaching his maiden T20I fifty.

For South Africa, Ngidi led the bowling with figures of 3/30, supported by Rabada and Corbin Bosch, who took two wickets each, ensuring a comprehensive victory for the Proteas.
