Islamabad, March 5, 2026: Ambassador of the Ethiopia to Pakistan, Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, met with Geir T. Tonstol, Country Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO), at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss matters of mutual interest and ongoing cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on collaboration between Ethiopia and the ILO in key areas including human resource development and industrial relations.

Ambassador Oumer briefed the ILO official on Ethiopia’s efforts to promote regional peace, security, and integration through diplomacy, as well as major infrastructure initiatives such as aviation expansion and the development of rail networks.

Mr. Tonstol commended Ethiopia’s progress in development and reiterated the ILO’s continued commitment to supporting improved workplace environments and stronger industrial standards.

He also recalled his previous stay in Ethiopia and appreciated the country’s rapid development, rich cultural heritage, and growing tourism sector.
