Dhaka, March 10, 2026: Pakistan national cricket team will take on Bangladesh national cricket team in the first One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series on Wednesday in Dhaka.
All three day-night matches of the series will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with the opening match scheduled to begin at 1:15pm (Pakistan Standard Time).
Ahead of the series, the ODI trophy was unveiled in Dhaka on Tuesday by Pakistan’s captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan is expected to make his ODI debut in the opening match, while young batters Shamyl Hussain and Maaz Sadaqat are also likely to feature for the first time in the format.
Historically, Pakistan have dominated the ODI contests between the two sides. In 39 matches played so far, Pakistan have won 34, while Bangladesh have secured five victories.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson expressed confidence in the team ahead of the series, saying several emerging players had earned their opportunity after impressive performances in domestic cricket and with the Pakistan Shaheens.
Hesson noted that the squad includes six uncapped players, describing it as an “exciting” mix of experienced campaigners and promising young talent. Speaking before the team’s first training session in Dhaka, he said the management was keen to test new players in challenging overseas conditions.
He added that players such as Farhan, Shamyl Hussain and Maaz Sadaqat had secured their spots through consistent performances in domestic competitions.
The coach also downplayed the absence of star batter Babar Azam, explaining that the decision was aimed at giving emerging players an opportunity to prove themselves rather than sidelining established names.
