Islamabad, March 11, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, formed under the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by the ministers for Finance and Revenue, Climate Change, Information and Broadcasting, Petroleum, and Information Technology and Telecommunication, as well as the minister of state for Finance and Revenue. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, along with the secretaries of the Foreign Affairs, Finance, Cabinet, and Interior divisions, the special secretary of the Establishment Division, and other senior officials also participated. Provincial chief secretaries joined the session as well.

The committee reviewed progress on the implementation of the prime minister’s austerity measures, including the federal cabinet’s decision to forgo salaries, expenditure reductions across ministries and departments, and deductions from the salaries of senior government officials earning Rs300,000 or more per month.

Participants were also briefed on efforts to ensure coordinated implementation of the measures at both federal and provincial levels.

During the meeting, Dar directed all ministries and divisions to ensure strict and transparent implementation of the austerity measures, promote fiscal discipline, and ensure prudent use of public resources in line with the government’s commitment to austerity and responsible governance.
