Lahore, March 13,2026: Veteran Pakistani actor Shujaat Hashmi passed away in Lahore on Friday after a period of illness, confirmed his family. Funeral prayers were held at 9:00 p.m. at Jamia Naeemia Garhi Shahu, after which he was laid to rest.

Hashmi rose to national fame in the 1980s through the popular Pakistan Television drama Hawayein and went on to appear in several Urdu-language films, earning praise for his versatile performances. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance in 1994.

Members of Pakistan’s entertainment industry mourned his passing, paying tribute to his long-standing services to television and cinema.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed her condolences, lauding Hashmi’s professional legacy. “Shujaat Hashmi immortalised his characters through his art,” she said, highlighting the actor’s enduring impact on the country’s entertainment industry.

Hashmi’s death marks the loss of a legendary performer whose work shaped Pakistani television and film for generations.
