Kyiv, March 29, 2026: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has concluded a multi-country visit to the Gulf, covering Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, aimed at strengthening defence cooperation, boosting investment, and enhancing Ukraine’s role as a global security partner.

During the high-level tour, the Ukrainian president focused on building mutually beneficial partnerships, expanding technological and defence collaboration, and reinforcing regional security ties amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In Jeddah, Zelenskyy met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where both sides discussed avenues to deepen bilateral relations. Ahead of the meeting, the two countries signed a defence cooperation agreement between their respective ministries of defence, opening new pathways for collaboration. Ukraine also expressed readiness to share its expertise in countering aerial threats, while the Saudi leadership acknowledged the contribution of Ukrainian professionals and signaled interest in a long-term partnership.

In Abu Dhabi, Zelenskyy held talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing Ukraine’s openness to sustained cooperation in security and defence. Both sides reached preliminary agreements in these areas, with further details currently being finalised.

The final leg of the visit took place in Doha, where Zelenskyy met with Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The two countries agreed to establish a long-term partnership, including at least a 10-year framework in the defence sector, expected to facilitate large-scale investments and long-term contracts.

Throughout the visit, Zelenskyy also briefed Gulf leaders on the evolving security situation in Ukraine, highlighting ongoing Russian attacks and stressing the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence systems with international support.

In each of the three countries, the Ukrainian president also met with teams of Ukrainian experts already working in the region, contributing their experience in countering aerial threats and enhancing civilian protection.
