Islamabad, March 30,2026: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood has strongly commended Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the ongoing Middle East conflict, terming them vital for stabilizing global markets, protecting regional trade, and preventing further economic disruption.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he praised the country’s civil-military leadership for what he described as “proactive and strategic diplomacy” in initiating dialogue and peace efforts among the concerned parties.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that the ongoing conflict has been severely impacting global economies by pushing up energy prices, disrupting international trade routes, and contributing to rising inflation worldwide. He emphasized that timely diplomatic intervention is essential not only for regional peace but also for safeguarding economic stability.

He noted that prolonged tensions in the Middle East could negatively affect Pakistan’s exports, remittances and trade connectivity with key markets, adding that Pakistan’s mediation efforts reflect its responsible role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub also appreciated the government’s diplomatic engagement and said that peace in the Middle East is directly linked with global economic stability. He stressed that reducing tensions in the region would help control energy prices, stabilize supply chains and restore investor confidence across international markets.

On the occasion, Vice President ICCI Irfan Chaudhry said that Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic approach demonstrates its commitment to regional peace and economic cooperation. He added that stability in the Middle East is crucial for protecting the interests of Pakistan’s overseas workforce and ensuring uninterrupted trade flows through vital regional routes.

The ICCI leadership reiterated its full support for the government’s diplomatic initiatives and expressed hope that continued dialogue and mediation would lead to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, paving the way for economic stability and sustainable growth in the region.
