Islamabad, April 6, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday emphasized that the provision of quality basic healthcare is the foremost responsibility of the government, stating that a healthy nation is the foundation of a stable and developed state.
In his message on the occasion of World Health Day, the speaker said the day serves as an important reminder of the state’s obligation to ensure timely, equitable, and accessible healthcare for all citizens.
Highlighting the challenges facing Pakistan’s health sector, he pointed to limited access to healthcare services, shortage of resources, and a rapidly growing population as major concerns. He stressed the need for comprehensive strategies, sustainable policymaking, and practical measures to ensure that every citizen can access basic healthcare without discrimination.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted that while the government and relevant institutions are taking steps to improve the healthcare system, more coordinated and effective efforts are needed, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas.
He also underscored the importance of preventive healthcare, emphasizing awareness campaigns, precautionary measures, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles to reduce the burden of disease.
Urging both citizens and authorities to play their role, the National Assembly speaker called for renewed commitment to building a healthier society and strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare system.
