Islamabad, April 15,2026: The Asia-Pacific Group has endorsed Amir Waliuddin Chishti for membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Committee on Health, marking a significant recognition of Pakistan’s contribution to global parliamentary diplomacy.
The endorsement reflects Senator Chishti’s commitment to advancing public health initiatives and his active engagement in legislative affairs. His inclusion in the prestigious committee is expected to strengthen international cooperation on health-related challenges and enhance Pakistan’s voice in global policymaking within the IPU framework.
Observers note that his participation will provide an opportunity to share Pakistan’s experiences in addressing public health issues, fostering dialogue, and promoting collaborative solutions at the international level.
In line with Pakistan’s ongoing austerity drive, members of parliament participating in IPU engagements—including Senator Chishti—are attending these forums at their own expense. This move underscores a commitment to prudent utilization of public resources while ensuring continued and effective parliamentary representation on the global stage.
The development highlights Pakistan’s proactive role in international parliamentary forums and its dedication to promoting health diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.
