Lahore, April 22, 2026: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an investigation into the alleged use of recreational drugs by spin-all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz.

A PCB spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that the board is reviewing the matter and will share its findings with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after completing the investigation, including an assessment of the player’s medical history.

The spokesperson added that Nawaz will continue to represent Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) until the process is concluded.

Meanwhile, cricket website ESPNcricinfo reported that Nawaz had tested positive for recreational drug use, citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the report, the test was conducted during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year.

The report further claimed that Nawaz’s planned stint with English county side Surrey for the upcoming T20 Blast—scheduled from May 26 to July 18—has fallen through in light of the development.

Both Surrey and the ICC declined to comment on the report. The PCB has not officially confirmed the details of the alleged test result, maintaining that the matter remains under investigation.
