Rawalpindi, April 28, 2026: Pakistan’s Army Rocket Force Command on Tuesday successfully carried out a training launch of the indigenously developed Fateh-II missile system, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In an official statement, the ISPR said the Fateh-II system is equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigation aids, enhancing its operational capability.
The training launch was aimed at enhancing troop preparedness, validating key technical parameters, and assessing the performance of various sub-systems designed to improve accuracy and survivability.
The exercise was witnessed by senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Rocket Force Command, and the Pakistan Army, along with scientists and engineers from strategic organisations.
“The forum commended the successful training fire of the indigenously developed missile of the Fateh series,” the ISPR statement said.
Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, praised the team behind the launch for their “technical prowess, dedication and commitment.”
The latest test is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen its indigenous missile capabilities.
In September 2025, the Pakistan Army conducted a training launch of the Fatah-4 cruise missile with a range of 750 kilometres. Earlier, in May 2025, a surface-to-surface missile under the Fateh series with a range of 120 kilometres was successfully tested amid heightened regional tensions.
During the same period, Pakistan also tested the Abdali weapon system, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a reported range of 450 kilometres.
Over the past month, the Pakistan Navy has also carried out successful missile tests, including the indigenously developed Taimoor air-launched cruise missile and an anti-ship ballistic missile, underscoring continued progress in the country’s strategic defence capabilities.
