UN Chief backs Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in call with Ishaq Dar

Islamabad, April 28, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Tuesday, discussing the evolving regional situation and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagements.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the region, with Dar highlighting Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation among relevant parties.

The UN chief commended Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role, conveying the international community’s appreciation for its contributions toward regional and global peace and stability.

Guterres also reaffirmed the United Nations’ full support for Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue and reducing tensions in the region.

The conversation comes amid heightened geopolitical developments, with Pakistan actively engaged in mediation efforts and diplomatic outreach at multiple levels.
