Singapore May 1,2026: Pakistan High Commission in Singapore, in collaboration with The Esplanade, organized a
captivating evening of Qawwali – “At the Feet of the Beloved”, to mark the 60th anniversary of Pakistan–Singapore diplomatic relations.
The event drew a large and diverse audience, including members of the diplomatic corps, art enthusiasts, business leaders, Pakistani diaspora, and the general public.
The performance by Rizwan & Muazzam, nephews of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, carried forward a 700-year-old Sufi musical tradition, enthralling the audience with its spiritual depth and artistic brilliance.
The soulful renditions were warmly received and deeply enjoyed by all present.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq highlighted that Qawwali, rooted in the teachings of Sufi saints, is a powerful expression of love, harmony, and spiritual devotion, and serves as a bridge that connects people across cultures and borders. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue promoting cultural understanding and strengthening people-to-people ties with Singapore.
High Commissioner also hosted a reception for diplomats and distinguished guests.
The evening beautifully showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering closer ties with Singapore through cultural diplomacy.
