Pak envoy meets Myanmar Home Minister, discusses repatriation of Pakistani scam victims

Yangon, May 7, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Myanmar Tariq Karim held a meeting with Myanmar’s Union Minister for Home Affairs Lieutenant General Nyunt Win Swe in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

According to diplomatic sources, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Myanmar, particularly in the areas of consular affairs and regional coordination.

The two sides also discussed issues related to the release and repatriation of Pakistani nationals who had fallen victim to online scam centres operating in parts of the region.

Ambassador Karim underscored the importance of continued cooperation to facilitate the safe return of affected Pakistani citizens and appreciated the support extended by Myanmar authorities in addressing the matter.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral engagement and maintaining close coordination on issues concerning the welfare and protection of citizens.
