Islamabad, November 10, 2024-Pakistan Television (PTV), despite collecting billions in fees from the public, is reportedly struggling with financial mismanagement and a severe financial crisis, preventing it from broadcasting the recent Pakistan-Australia match. The reasons behind this failure are now surfacing, sparking widespread disappointment and frustration among cricket fans.

PTV’s inability to secure the broadcast rights in time, allegedly due to delayed payments, meant that cricket fans across the country missed the highly anticipated match. According to sources within PTV, Sports Director Usama Azhar did not inform senior management about the situation on time, further exacerbating the issue. Sources claim Azhar also withheld information on payment obligations related to the broadcasting rights, which has led to growing demands for accountability.

Rumors suggest that Azhar might be removed from his position, although no official announcement has been made. This is not the first instance of such challenges for PTV Sports, as the channel has previously lost bids for broadcasting rights due to similar issues. This ongoing mismanagement has raised concerns about whether private sports channels are intentionally benefiting from PTV Sports’ apparent weakening.

An investigation into these matters has been initiated against the former PTV Managing Director, as concerns mount over whether this recurring issue is part of a deliberate attempt to undermine PTV Sports.
