Islamabad, May 9, 2026: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dan Stoenescu has said that Europe Day represents a celebration of shared values, collective aspirations, and a united future founded on democracy, human rights, diversity, solidarity, and peace.
In his message on Europe Day, the ambassador stated that for Romania, the occasion carried special significance as the country’s accession to the European Union in 2007 marked a historic milestone towards deeper integration into the European family and reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to fundamental democratic principles.
Ambassador Stoenescu emphasized that, in the current international environment, continued support for Ukraine remained essential for the stability and security of Europe, as well as for the protection of international law and the sovereignty of states.
He also highlighted the importance of the speedy integration of both Republic of Moldova and Ukraine into the European Union, describing it as vital for building a stronger, more united, and secure Europe.
The Romanian envoy noted that Europe must continue standing firmly for its shared values not only within the continent but also across the world. He said Europe’s true strength lay in its commitment to freedom, democracy, human dignity, and international cooperation.
Concluding his message, Ambassador Stoenescu extended greetings on Europe Day and reaffirmed the enduring importance of unity and cooperation among European nations.
