Mirpur, May 12, 2026: Bangladesh registered a commanding 104-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test in Dhaka, wrapping up a dominant performance on the fifth day as their bowlers dismantled the visitors’ batting lineup.
Bangladesh posted 413 and 240 for 9 declared, while Pakistan were bowled out for 386 and 163, handing the hosts a memorable win and continuing their recent dominance over the visitors.
This result marks Bangladesh’s third consecutive Test victory against Pakistan, following their 2–0 series win in 2024.
Fast bowler Nahid Rana was the standout performer, producing a fiery spell to finish with 5 for 40. He struck crucial blows, removing key Pakistan batters including Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, and Mohammad Rizwan, before returning to dismiss Noman Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Support came from Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam, who took two wickets each, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz added another as Bangladesh’s attack shared the workload effectively.
Chasing a challenging target, Pakistan were kept afloat briefly by debutant Fazal, who scored a fighting 66 off 113 balls with 11 boundaries. He became only the sixth Pakistani batter to score fifties in both innings on Test debut.
However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Early breakthrough came when Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Azan Awais for 15 after his first-innings century.
Rana then removed Shan Masood to leave Pakistan in deep trouble at 68 for 3. Shortly after, Fazal’s resistance ended when Taijul Islam trapped him in front with a sharply turning delivery.
Pakistan’s lower order offered little resistance as Taskin Ahmed removed Salman Ali Agha, while Bangladesh maintained control to complete a comprehensive victory.
Pakistan had earlier scored 386, with Fazal top-scoring with a debut half-century and Salman contributing 26. Bangladesh’s bowling effort was led by Hasan Mahmud, who took 3 for 52, helping restrict Pakistan’s total.
In their second innings, Bangladesh had earlier added crucial runs through skipper Shanto (87) and Mominul Haque (56), setting up a strong position before declaring.
Despite Pakistan’s efforts, Bangladesh controlled all five days of the Test, outplaying their opponents in both batting and bowling departments.
The victory reinforces Bangladesh’s growing strength at home and extends Pakistan’s struggles in red-ball cricket away from home conditions.
