Islamabad, May 14,2026: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reaffirmed the country’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful engagement for regional stability, while strongly rejecting what it termed misleading international media reports based on speculation.

Addressing the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan firmly believes that constructive dialogue and diplomatic engagement remain essential for lasting peace in the region.

He stated that Pakistan would continue promoting cooperation and peaceful solutions to regional and international issues.

The spokesperson categorically rejected a recent report by CBS News, calling it inaccurate and disconnected from facts.

The report had made claims regarding aircraft movements and regional security developments.

Tahir Andrabi clarified that the aircraft referenced in the report arrived during a ceasefire period and was used solely for diplomatic purposes linked to ongoing engagement discussions in Islamabad.

He emphasized that the aircraft had no connection with any military activity or operational contingency.

“Our response is clear and based on factual clarification,” he said, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual respect among states.

The spokesperson highlighted recent diplomatic outreach by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including telephone conversations with the leaders of Qatar and Azerbaijan.

According to the Foreign Office, the discussions focused on regional peace, stability, and ongoing diplomatic efforts. The prime minister also conveyed goodwill messages regarding Azerbaijan’s upcoming international events.

The spokesperson further said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar remained in close contact with counterparts from several countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, Singapore, and Austria.

He said discussions covered regional security, diplomatic coordination, and maritime stability, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Tahir Andrabi added that Pakistan and China had recently reaffirmed their shared commitment to diplomacy and regional stability during a telephone conversation between their foreign ministers.

He also rejected media reports suggesting external pressure on Pakistan, describing such claims as inaccurate and misleading.

The spokesperson also addressed security concerns, referring to the recent terrorist attack on a police post in Bannu in which 15 security personnel were martyred.

He said Pakistan strongly condemned the attack and had formally raised the matter with Afghan authorities.

According to the spokesperson, the Afghan chargé d’affaires was summoned and a formal protest was lodged, urging authorities in Afghanistan to take immediate and verifiable action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

Preliminary investigations, he said, suggested that the attack was planned by militants based across the border.

Tahir Andrabi reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and dismantle all networks posing threats to national security.
