Islamabad, May 15, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed a high-level Chinese business delegation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding economic and technological cooperation with China, particularly in the digital economy sector.

An 11-member delegation led by Mr. Qian Xiaojun, Founder, President and Controlling Shareholder of IBI Beijing United Technology called on the prime minister at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan and China as “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners” bound by historic ties and mutual trust. He praised the rapid development achieved by China under the leadership of Xi Jinping and said he was looking forward to visiting China later this month.

The premier appreciated IBI Group’s decision to establish its Digital Economy Headquarters in Pakistan, calling it an encouraging step toward strengthening business-to-business cooperation between the two countries. He said the initiative would help promote digital economy collaboration, facilitate investment, and enhance industrial cooperation.

Mr. Qian Xiaojun expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and said the company aimed to support the country’s digital transformation by helping develop a modern digital backbone for the economy.

He noted that the establishment of IBI’s Digital Economy Headquarters in Pakistan would serve as a command center for digital transformation and create significant opportunities for Pakistani small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing them greater access to the Chinese market.

The delegation’s visit follows the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference held in Beijing in September 2025 during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China.

Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, and SAPM Tariq Fatemi, along with senior officials, also attended the meeting.
