Islamabad, May 18, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s ambassadors posted in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Iran at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Advisor to the Prime Minister Syed Tauqir Shah, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

During the briefing, ambassadors informed the prime minister about the current state of bilateral relations, emerging opportunities, and key challenges in their respective host countries.

Discussions focused on strengthening economic diplomacy, expanding trade and investment cooperation, increasing remittance inflows, and enhancing engagement with the Pakistani diaspora living in the Gulf region.

The prime minister underscored the historic, economic, and strategic importance of GCC countries and Iran in Pakistan’s foreign policy framework.

He directed ambassadors to adopt a proactive approach in deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and people-to-people linkages.

The meeting also reviewed regional and international developments, with particular emphasis on promoting peace, stability, and economic cooperation across the broader region.
