Islamabad, May 19, 2026: Pakistan has played a highly constructive and commendable role in promoting peace and stability in the region through diplomacy and dialogue, Iranian diplomat Mohsin Shahbazi said on Tuesday.

He made these remarks during a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Dr. Samaneh Kamali Moghaddam, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Iran, where they held an interactive session with the chamber’s leadership and members of the business community.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity between Pakistan and Iran.

Mohsin Shahbazi expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for standing in solidarity with Iran during recent regional tensions and appreciated Pakistan’s positive mediatory role between Iran and the United States.

He said Pakistan’s efforts for peace and regional harmony reflected the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two neighboring countries.

The Iranian diplomat observed that crises often create new opportunities for stronger multilateral cooperation and emphasized that Pakistan and Iran possess immense potential to expand bilateral economic and commercial ties.

Highlighting the strategic importance of regional connectivity, he stressed the role of the ports of both countries in improving trade access to Central Asian states and international markets.

He also assured the business community that the Iranian Embassy would continue facilitating Pakistani businessmen, particularly members of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in matters related to visas, trade cooperation, and business connectivity.

Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said recent regional developments had brought the people of Pakistan and Iran even closer and expressed confidence that government-to-government, people-to-people, and business-to-business relations would continue to grow.

He expressed solidarity with the people of Iran and voiced hope that the country would successfully recover from the losses and hardships caused by the recent conflict.

The ICCI president also highlighted significant opportunities for bilateral cooperation in energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism, mining, and information technology, with particular emphasis on energy collaboration.

Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub stressed the importance of increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products, especially mangoes and apples, and appreciated Iran’s support in facilitating Pakistani exports to Central Asian countries through Iranian transit routes.

Dr. Samaneh Kamali Moghaddam also shared proposals for enhancing bilateral trade, business partnerships, and private-sector cooperation between the two countries.

The ICCI leadership appreciated the efforts of the Iranian Embassy in promoting closer economic ties and reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to organizing trade delegations, business forums, exhibitions, and B2B meetings to unlock the full potential of bilateral trade.

The session was attended by Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, Executive Member Waseem Chaudhry, Zulqurnain Abbasi, former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, Chairman ICCI Standing Committee on Sister Cities Initiative Sajid Iqbal, ICCI Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza, and a large number of business community members.
