Islamabad, May 21, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday termed the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China a historic milestone, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening the longstanding “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two countries.

In his message on the occasion, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt felicitations to the peoples of Pakistan and China, saying the anniversary provides an important opportunity, particularly for younger generations, to better understand the depth, vitality, and future-oriented nature of bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the people of Pakistan hold the people of China in the highest esteem and affection. He noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951, the friendship between the two countries has steadily evolved into a robust strategic partnership founded on mutual trust, sovereign equality, and shared aspirations for peace and development.

He emphasized that despite changing regional and global dynamics, Pakistan-China relations have continued to grow in strength, substance, and strategic significance.

The Prime Minister highly praised the visionary leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and appreciated China’s remarkable achievements in economic development, technological advancement, poverty alleviation, modernization, and global connectivity.

He said China’s transformation under President Xi’s leadership continues to inspire the developing world and contributes significantly to global peace and prosperity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the Chinese leadership’s commitment to advancing the shared vision of building a closer “Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future in the New Era.”

Reaffirming Pakistan’s support for China on issues concerning its core interests, the Prime Minister said Pakistan remains firmly committed to the One-China principle and deeply values China’s multifaceted cooperation with Pakistan.

Highlighting the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Prime Minister said the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative has played a transformative role in Pakistan’s infrastructure development, energy security, industrial cooperation, and regional connectivity.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the high-quality development of CPEC as it enters its next phase, with enhanced focus on industrialization, agriculture, information technology, science and technology, green development, and people-centered cooperation.

The Prime Minister said it was encouraging to witness Pakistan-China cooperation expanding into new areas including the digital economy, innovation, outer space cooperation, education, and cultural exchanges.

“From the Karakoram Highway to cooperation in outer space, Pakistan-China friendship continues to demonstrate how enduring strategic trust can be translated into meaningful progress and shared prosperity for our peoples,” he remarked.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the 75th anniversary was not only an occasion to remember the past but also to shape the future at a time of increasing global uncertainty and transformation.

He stressed that Pakistan and China remain committed to multilateralism, peaceful coexistence, and inclusive development, adding that the bilateral partnership continues to serve as a positive force for regional stability and international cooperation.

Concluding his message, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China would continue to grow stronger with every generation, declaring: “Pakistan-China friendship zindabad.”
