Islamabad, May 21, 2026: Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday strongly condemned the alleged unlawful interception of the “Global Sumud Flotilla” by Israeli occupying forces in international waters and the reported detention and mistreatment of humanitarian activists onboard, including Pakistani humanitarian worker Saad Edhi.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Spokesperson, the Foreign Office described the interception and detention of activists as illegal and called for the immediate release of all those detained.

“The Government of Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the unlawful interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli occupying forces in international waters as well as arbitrary detention and reported mistreatment of humanitarian workers onboard,” the statement said.

The Foreign Office stated that the international community must play its role in ensuring the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of the detained activists.

Pakistan also urged immediate international attention to the matter and reiterated its demand for the unconditional release of all humanitarian workers held by Israeli authorities.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains in close contact with Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in the region to ensure the safe return of any detained Pakistani nationals.

The Foreign Office further confirmed that Pakistani humanitarian activist Saad Edhi was among those reportedly detained during the incident involving the aid flotilla.
