Air Chief holds high-level defence, technology talks during Türkiye visit

Rawalpindi, May 22, 2026: Chief of the Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu held a series of high-level meetings during his official visit to Türkiye, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in defence, aerospace innovation, and emerging technologies, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, the Pakistan Air Force chief met with Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, and Selçuk Bayraktar.

The meetings reaffirmed the growing strategic convergence between Pakistan and Türkiye and highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to expanding collaboration in defence and aerospace sectors.

At the Turkish Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was presented a Guard of Honour. Discussions focused on enhancing interoperability through joint exercises, training programmes, and professional exchanges.

The Turkish Air Force commander appreciated the Pakistan Air Force’s continued support in the training of Turkish pilots, the ISPR statement said.

During talks with Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, both sides reiterated the longstanding historical and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye while exploring further cooperation in training, capacity building, and aerospace collaboration.

In a separate meeting with Baykar Technologies CTO Selçuk Bayraktar, discussions centered on advancements in unmanned aerial systems, aerospace innovation, and emerging defence technologies.

According to ISPR, the engagement reflected the shared vision of both sides to pursue closer collaboration in next-generation defence technologies.
